Interview: Fairview

If you live in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), I am quite sure you have heard the name Fairview come up at least once in the music scene.

Jordan Smith (vocals / guitar), Mikey Couture (guitar), Steven Kiefer (bass) and Brendan Kennedy (drums) have definitely created a band worth watching. And, when Basement Entertainment was asked to book Fairview, and their most recent tour partner, Take Me To The Pilot, on July 2nd 2012, we jumped at the opportunity.

This pop/rock band, originally from Brockville, Ontario, have certainly created a buzz around their name since forming in October of 2010. On Fairview's Facebook page it also states that, "Music enthusiasts attend events time and time again in hopes of catching an entertaining night along with a solid musical performance. Most often, bands meet none or only one of these expectations. Though, there are sometimes bands who break this norm, who have something else to prove.".

Their first EP, titled Lost In Translation, was released to their Bandcamp page on October 10th 2011. And, all three available tracks are definitely worth checking out.

The thing that I love about Fairview is that they are true young men. No matter how popular these four individuals get, they are the type that will always remain down-to-earth. Again, on the band's Facebook page it adds, "The boys of Fairview have a lot more to prove then just their musical capability. Whether it's a heart-stopping performance you want, catchy lyrics that connect with the listener, or all around feel-good pop/rock, and something to get your groove on to, you've come to the right place. With an ever-evolving sound that is mature beyond the band's average-age of only nineteen and a captive live performance that leaves fans wanting more, these boys are only just beginning to make a name for themselves.".

So, what are you waiting for? Make sure you check out Fairview and see just what this band is up to. Also, be sure you check out my interview with the band when they played Basement Entertainment's event in Waterloo, Ontario on July 2nd 2012.
