It is February 9th 2014 which means it is time to announce the next 'Song of the Week'.
Described as "quirky, seemingly-waiflike, light-heartedly thought-provoking pop", Lafayette, Indiana's [multi-talented musician], Briagha McTavish, never disappoints when it comes to releasing unforgettable music.
On Briagha's Facebook page she writes, "I can't remember a time when I didn't write music. It's just what I do. The same thing goes for singing, playing piano and guitar. I just love it. Whether I'm writing an original song, or just listening to someone else's, I like music that's real, tells a story and that draws you in so far that you feel like it's a part of you. I like music that's full of life, that has a melody, that soars and is meaningful."
On July 17th 2013, Briagha McTavish released her incredible EP, titled Patterns, to her iTunes page. And, it was not long before fans were rating the album with five stars and complementing, and even thanking her, for her talent. So, of course, the second track found on Patterns, titled I Can't Help, is earning this week's featured 'Song of the Week' spot.
Briagha may only be nineteen this year, however the musical background this young woman has is impressive. On her Facebook page it reads, "For years I studied classical music, yes, I even play the violin and viola. But, I enjoy a wide variety of music, including, Coldplay, Spoon, Muse, Passion Pit, Selena Gomez, Gungor, Edward Sharp And The Magnetic Zeroes, Owl City, Switchfoot and Brandon Heath, to name just a few."
So, for someone who grew up listening to groups and musicians such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Elton John, beyond others, she has definitely found the perfect way to blend everything together to create her own stamp on the music scene. And, I Can't Help has undoubtedly earned this week's 'Song of the Week' spot because of that.
Please check out Patterns, Briagha McTavish's latest EP, as soon as possible. And, while you are on the internet searching for more, be sure to catch the video of Briagha performing I Can't Help, this week's 'Song of the Week', which can be seen here:
See you next Sunday when we post the next artist or band to take our 'Song of the Week' spot. But, over the next week, please check out Briagha McTavish and her seriously incredible music.
