Cory Myraas, better known as Windmills, started his project in mid 2011. And, by creating unique and unforgettable ambient folk/electric indie folk style music, he is catching the eyes and ears of fans all around.
"Influenced by the romantic sound-scapes and thematic elements of film, with a strong vocal presence and heartbreaking lyrics, Windmills combines more elements than thought possible for a one-man band, breaking genres and refusing to stay put."
"Born out of the beautiful Okanagan Valley, Windmills emerged in April of 2011 and in an incredibly humbling and extremely busy two years has performed extensively across Western Canada and has had the opportunity to open for a wide variety of talented bands such as Library Voices, Hey Ocean, Wake Owl, Bend Sinister, Wool On Wolves and Andrew Allen, among many others."
On January 27th 2012, Windmills released his first CD, titled Keep Moving, to his iTunes page. And, instantly, the nine songs that create the EP caught fans' attention all over. The EP went on to earn [countless positive] customer reviews such as, "What an instant classic! A great buy for anyone who likes interesting, relatable, catchy tunes!", as well as, "These songs range from simple to complex in an instant, love every track!"
February 9th 2013 Windmills set out, once again, to release [yet another] phenomenally perfect EP. Simply named Tilting, the EP is comprised of five songs that will obviously leave you wanting to hear more. And, the third track off his newest EP, the song titled Architects, is earning this week's 'Song of the Week' spot.
Fans are quite simply calling [both] his CD and EP a "masterpiece". Plus, on the Windmills Facebook page it says, His first CD, Keep Moving, "is a record that represents the Okanagan Valley - the beauty and the sound, progressively pushing the boundaries of the one-man band genre while exploring mature musical themes/elements that offer a true representation of who Windmills is." In addition, his latest EP, Tilting, "shows an evolution in song-writing and maturity, with the songs becoming more honest and heartfelt."
So, with such a perfect style, as well as insanely beautiful and well written lyrics, Windmills' music is definitely something to check out. As Windmills' mastermind, Cory Myraas, says, "What started with the humblest of beginnings has grown, the momentum is building and Windmills keep moving", making Architects earn this week's 'Song of the Week'.
