It is June 30th 2013 which means it is time to announce the next 'Song of the Week'.
The song obtaining this week's featured spot on the official Basement Entertainment website is by a pop/punk band from Vancouver, Canada.
Consisting of Chris Siglos (vocals / guitar), James Songalia (guitar), Curtis St Louis (bass) and Alex Johrden (drums), Chase Your Words, the band taking this week's spot for their original tune, has been "exceeding all expectations" since they first formed.
The band could not have said it better on their Facebook page, adding, "With their highly anticipated single, Under Attack, the Vancouver based band has exceeded all expectations with a number of effervescent new songs with an unstoppable hookiness and a newly discovered knack for exploration and invention. Unified by singer/guitarist Christopher Siglos's clever lyricism, songs like Under Attack and Home are marked by a range of diverse musical approaches, all the while retaining Chase Your Words' energy and enthusiasm." And, their energy and enthusiasm has earned their song Under Attack to be named this week's 'Song of the Week'.
The single, Under Attack, was officially released on June 15th 2013. And, well, fans are loving it. On the band's official Youtube Channel fans wrote comments such as "just do a world tour...", "It's bands like you that deserve to be so much bigger." and "Love this song. Stuck in my head already", along with what seems like hundreds of people simply stating, "Amazing!".
Chase Your Words first formed in mid 2010 between Chris Siglos (vocals / guitar) and James Songalia (guitar). They then released their first EP, in late 2011. Later on the band ended up going on a hiatus, parting ways with their [then] current line up, just leaving the founding members Chris and James. Finally, after nearly two years of separation, Chris was approached to sing at an event and, as you know, the rest is history and Chase Your Words was back in action.
So, Under Attack is receiving this week's 'Song of the Week' spot because Chase Your Words have clearly shown their fans their talent. And, in return fans simply cannot get enough.
As Chris Siglos (vocals / guitar) says, "We want to have fun and let the good times roll. Music makes every one of us in the band happy. We just really want to share that happiness while inspiring and helping people through their daily struggles through the power of our own music. We want to develop our own sound along with try out new things and branching out to newer audiences. We don't want to be seen as just another band. We want to grow and watch our family and friends grow with us along the journey." And, with what these four young men have shown us so far, these words stand true.
Alongside the release of their single, Under Attack, to iTunes, the band also posted this week's 'Song of the Week' on their official Youtube Channel, which can be heard here:
