It is December 2nd 2012 which means it is time to announce the next 'Song of the Week'.
Adding to the list of receiving artists and bands is another [very] local young man.
At [just] twenty one, Justin Briner, from New Hamburg, Ontario, is certainly a man of many talents. I only met him five months ago, however, his drive, ambition and, of course, talent has undeniably been exposed.
Basement Entertainment first booked Justin Briner in late August of 2012 for an acoustic style event held in Kitchener, Ontario. And, at the end of the night I was immediately trying to confirm another event with him.
It is quite obvious that 2012 has treated Justin well. Not only has his internet presence steadily grown, but he also just released his CD, Silent Imagery, this past October 24th 2012 on his Bandcamp page.
Below his CD over on his Bandcamp page Justin states, "This album has really been 4 years [plus] in the making. This album is a journey through my life the past couple years and hopefully some can relate to it." And, when I heard the last track off Silent Imagery, which is titled So, What Are You People Made Of, I knew it had to be this week's 'Song of the Week'.
Justin played Basement Entertainment's November acoustic event a few weeks ago. And, at the end of his set he brought up his best friend, Jacob Brenneman, who also played that night, and [together] they played So, What Are You People Made Of. At that moment I was addicted.
The song leaves me pondering for words each time I give it a listen. If you have yet to hear the song, you definitely need to. I cannot even explain it, but Justin's talent gives me the chills. The lyrics are quite honestly unbelievable, for a lack of a better word...
So, I will leave it at that. Although this young man is still fairly new to the music scene, I hope you can see why So, What Are You People Made Of is getting this week's 'Song of the Week' spot.
I cannot wait to continue working with Justin in the new year.
As if Justin was not amazing enough, he was nice enough to record a special version of So, What Are You People Made Of, this week's 'Song of the Week', for Basement Entertainment. So, what are you waiting for? Make sure you check out the acoustic song Justin recorded with his best friend, Jacob Brenneman, for Basement Entertainment here:
See you again next Sunday for another 'Song of the Week' article. In the meantime please, please, please check out Justin Briner's Bandcamp page, pick up his latest CD, as well as listen to So, What Are You People Made Of.
