It is September 30th 2012 which means it is time to announce the next 'Song of the Week'.
Consisting of Eric Fisher (vocals / piano / guitar), Jillianne King-Godard (backing vocals), Travis Golem (guitar), Randy Bowman (bass) and James Bowman (drums / backing vocals), Whitefire is the band taking this week's spot.
Although I just recently discovered them through Facebook, their performance last night at one of Basement Entertainment's events blew me away.
As stated on their Facebook page, "Whitefire is a five piece alternative rock band from Kitchener, Ontario. Their high intensity shredding riffs, mixed with super exciting bass lines and drum stick flipping, are the base to three very powerful voices soaring over top. The versatility of each member allows for a very interesting, high energy show. You will be sure to bob your head to not only the super heavy drops but also the clear, chill, intimate awesomeness that comes with low dynamics."
This band definitely knows what they are doing. And, their unique and fresh sound makes them stand out in the music scene. Also, the members are insanely nice. So, their incredible song, Anything Helps, is this week's 'Song of the Week'.
As explained last night at the event, Anything Helps has an incredible story behind it. Infact, all of Whitefire's songs have amazing lyrics and, of course, catchy melodies.
Once again in their Facebook band biography it states, "The band is lead by lead singer and songwriter Eric Fisher, who also occasionally plays piano and acoustic/electric guitars. A strong lead voice needs a strong backing crew; check! Jillianne King-Godard and James Bowman can be thanked for such a thing. Strong flowing harmonies float atop the rhythm section which is lead by lead guitar player Travis Golem. His solid shredding ability, that is inspired by bands like We Came As Romans, Sent By Ravens and August Burns Red, is a must hear for anybody. Randy Bowman is the bass player who takes chilling to a whole new level. While the band is rocking up and down, you can be sure to see Randy swaying side to side. Randy's older brother, James Bowman, plays the drums and is also really good at it. Many, many different genres influence James' drumming ability such as rock, metal, jazz and math core. All together, Whitefire will leave you joyful and ready for more rock and roll." And, that they do.
So, seriously check out Whitefire and give them a good old 'like' on Facebook. I know Basement Entertainment is excited to continue working with these talented five locals. And, with what they showed fans last night, they definitely proved they deserve this week's 'Song of the Week' spot.
If you have not heard this week's 'Song of the Week', Anything Helps, yet, what are you waiting for? You can watch an acoustic style video of the song on their official Youtube Channel, found here:
Be sure to check back next Sunday when we announce the next 'Song of the Week' spot. In the meantime, make sure to watch Whitefire's acoustic version of Anything Helps and, while you are there, check out their other official music videos.
