A lot can happen in only twelve months. Some artists or bands will disband, while others may be climbing the charts.
So, we decided to take a look back and check up on the artists or bands who have previously received a 'Band of the Month' spot to see where they are now.
Eric Conlon (vocals / guitar), Justin Jennings (guitar), Kenny Holt (guitar), Rob Paulin (bass), Vanessa Lepp (keyboard / backing vocals) and Malcolm Sanderson (drums) took the 'Band of the Month' spot last November 2012 for their band Lambs Become Lions. So, what has this [very] talented band from St. Catharines, Ontario been up to over the last year?
Well, after the release of their most recent EP, Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose, on November 13th 2012 the band finished out 2012 on a high note.
Lambs Become Lions hit the road in early January 2013 playing cities around Ontario such as Guelph, Newmarket and a few others. Then, on March 23rd 2013 the band took the stage at the known Canadian Music Week 2013 event in Toronto, Ontario.
April 2013 was a big month for Lambs Become Lions. The members played events in places like Fort Erie, Ontario and kicked off their EP release tour in St. Catharines, Ontario, later moving on to Hamilton, Ontario and others. And, the band announced the departure of their drummer Jesse Ingelevics. On their Facebook page they posted, "A few months ago we celebrated the arrival of a new member to our growing family - Levon Ingelevics (Jesse's Son). With saying that, we are a band that always supports the 'family first' method of delegating responsibilities. Jesse Ingelevics is in fact stepping down from his duties within Lambs Become Lions and being replaced by Malcolm Sanderson."
Moving forward one month, Lambs Become Lions, along with their new drummer, hit the one day KOI Con event in Kitchener, Ontario. As well, they played Guelph, Ontario just a few nights after.
In June 2013 the six played the S.C.E.N.E Music Festival in St. Catharines, Ontario and [less than] one month after that, took the Ernie Ball stage at the 2013 Vans Warped Tour in Toronto, Ontario.
As their schedule began to build, Lambs Become Lions announced their official tour dates for their Canadian East Coast Tour 2013 run. The tour kicked off on August 8th 2013 in Fredericton, New Brunswick and took them through Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and a few others, before ending on August 18th 2013 in Montreal, Quebec.
Throughout August 2013 the band kept busy and released an acoustic version of their song So The World Knows Who You Are to their official Youtube Channel. The video, which was filmed at Tony's Music Box in Fredericton, New Brunswick, shows just how incredible this band continues to be.
On September 14th 2013 Lambs Become Lions found their way back to Kitchener, Ontario, once again, where they took the stage for the annual KOI Music Festival, playing in front of thousands.
Everything seemed to be looking great for this indie/pop band as the year unravelled. However, on October 8th 2013 the band released a statement that would change things. To their official Facebook band page they wrote, "With a heavy heart, we are writing today to tell you that we have decided to part ways as a band. It will seem strange or unwarranted to many of you from the outside looking in. We started this band as a bunch of friends looking to make music that mattered and we are ending it as friends who got a chance to do something meaningful and play music for people we've grown to love." They went on to add, "We are all moving on to other projects and goals. But, one thing is for sure though, we will all be back up there on stage in one way or another, doing what we love. If you bought, borrowed or stole our music, if you sang along at concerts or in your car, if you bought a t-shirt and wore it proudly, if you shared a stage or a dream with us, if you gave weary travellers a place to lay their heads, these last three years happened because you made it possible. The two greatest gifts in life are family and music, you gave us a chance to play music and you made it feel like family."
Lambs Become Lions will be playing their final events throughout the latter half of November 2013 and early December 2013, taking the stage for the very last time on December 21st 2013 in their hometown of St. Catharines, Ontario.
No matter how things ended, one thing is for sure, Lambs Become Lions' name will definitely live on. The band created such phenomenal music and have truly reached fans all over.
I wish each member all the best as they continue into their newest endeavours.
