Featured: September 2012-2013 - Crystalyne

A lot can happen in only twelve months. Some artists or bands will disband, while others may be climbing the charts.

So, we decided to take a look back and check up on the artists or bands who have previously received a 'Band of the Month' spot to see where they are now.

Last September 2012 the Toronto, Ontario based band, known as Crystalyne, earned the featured 'Band of the Month' spot. And, well, one year later and this band has not slowed down one bit.

Just one month after being featured, Crystalyne hit the stage with Marianas Trench and Down With Webster in Oshawa, Ontario on October 17th 2012. That date was followed by seven more tour dates, hitting places like London, Ontario to Montreal, Quebec. And, a few weeks after that tour ended, they were on the road [again] playing two tour dates in early November in St. Catharines, Ontario and Langton, Ontario.

As if 2012 was not busy enough, 2013 has been treating Crystalyne right as well. They celebrated the start of a new year by releasing an official music video for their song Never Look Back, which can be found on the band's debut EP, Navigate, released on June 5th 2012. Shortly after the release of their video, they played a couple more events in late January and early February 2013 in Toronto, Ontario and Whitby, Ontario.

On February 27th 2013, Crystalyne released an acoustic cover of Rihanna's hit, Stay, on the band's Youtube Channel. And, of course, they followed that release by a couple more events in Hamilton, Ontario and St. Catharines, Ontario in mid March. But, their crowning glory for March 2013 was appearing, yet again, at the Canadian Music Week 2013 event in Toronto, Ontario.

Moving forward one more month and Crystalyne released anoth
er amazing cover video to their Youtube Channel, this time being Tegan And Sara's song, I Was A Fool. And, within the next two weeks they put out another cover for Carly Rae Jepsen's hit, Tonight I'm Getting Over You, as well as a cover of The Story So Far's song, Empty Space.

In early June of 2013 Crystalyne finally released their long-awaited new single, titled Secret. Plus, the four hit the stage, just five days later, on the main stage at the 2013 S.C.E.N.E Music Festival in St. Catharines, Ontario, followed by the Sound Of Music Festival, in Burlington, Ontario, on June 15th 2013.

Crystalyne welcomed in the summer by playing a Canada Day event in Mississauga, Ontario. And, they also played the famous 2013 Vans Warped Tour on the Toronto, Ontario stop on July 5th 2013, where they put on an insane performance.

Most recently Crystalyne have added cover videos of Paramore's song Ain't It Fun and Katy Perry's hit Roar, all of which are continually rising in views on the band's Youtube Channel.

Crystalyne played out the summer at the Sudbury SummerFest on August 22nd 2013, where they shared the same stage as Carly Rae Jepsen. And, of course, the four played Kitchener, Ontario's own KOI Music Festival on September 14th 2013. As well, Crystalyne recently just released their brand new music video for their latest single, Secret, which can be found on their official Youtube Channel.

So, it is pretty obvious that Marissa Dattoli (vocals), Josh Given (guitar / backing vocals), Justin Niece (bass) and Scotty Blake (drums) have not slowed down since starting the band in 2011. Infact, I do not think they plan to anytime soon.

I am certain this band will continue to release some phenomenal music, continuing to blow away their fans, including myself. And, I wish them all the best in the future.
