It is November 2012 and you know what that means! It is time to announce the next artist or band to receive our featured 'Band of the Month' spot.
They may reside [around] one hundred and twenty kilometres away, but their name is surely growing in popularity all over.
This week the band fronted by Eric Conlon (vocals / guitar), alongside Justin Jennings (guitar), Rob Paulin (bass), Vanessa Lepp (keyboard / backing vocals) and Jesse Ingelevics (drums), are being recognized for their work.
From St. Catharines, Ontario, this band is definitely one to check out. Creating a unique indie/pop sound, Eric, Justin, Rob, Vanessa and Jesse, better known as Lambs Become Lions, prove, time and time again, the amount of talent they truly have.
On the Lambs Become Lions Facebook page they have posted, "Remember back to when you were a kid; when life was easy. Growing up happens to us whether we want it to or not. As musicians, we go through similar growing pains. Our musical tastes change just like our friends can change over the years. The inescapable truth is that we're all a product of where we've been and where we are going."
Alongside that quotation, the band also added, "The members of Lambs Become Lions have done a lot of growing in the last year. They've been on multiple tours across Ontario supporting their debut EP, Cicada, which is nearly sold out. They've been on the radio; everything from college radio to CBC's Radio 2 Morning. They've lost a member and gained a friend, and most recently, they signed to the St. Catharines based label, Indoor Shoes."
The only thing that gets me down about this band is the [simple] fact that I did not discover them until a couple of months ago. So, whether you stumble across their music on Facebook, or at an event, you definitely need to pass their name along to your friends.
The Lambs Become Lions Facebook page is one you will want to have bookmarked as well. Not only do they constantly update it with new information, including the link to their new EP, Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose, but they also have an amazing biography for fans to read.
Like a lot of local bands, you can find these five on the road quite a bit, hitting up areas all around Ontario, frequently. And, although I can admit I have yet to see them live, I have heard some amazing things about their live performance. The band even said, "They will be invading your cities, working your stages and by the time you find out that their members have played in bands like Alexisonfire and Journey To Aspen, it won't matter. The songs will be in your head. You will find yourself humming the melodies and believing the words."
So, I will obviously say to check out Lambs Become Lions. And, while you are at it, make sure you pick up a copy of their newest EP, Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose, which was just released this past November 13th 2012.
Keep your eyes and ears glued to this band.
On top of their phenomenal music, make sure you check out their official music video for Someone Else's Dream, which you can find here:
